My word for God that I wrote on the little slip of paper is "The All That Is"..because I think that God permeates the entire spiritual world, above, below, beyond and within us--at all times, especially in our own hearts and the hearts of others we touch.
Nate:

I'm reading Kinnaman's book right now and I can't get over how people (including Kinnaman) just accept that Mosaics are completely self-centered. I agree with much of what he writes and how the church is out of touch with current society (his Wikipedia/Encarta example is spot on), but with people so full of themselves how is there ever going to be any room for Christ to fill their hearts? In working with older adults in the church, this is one of the major sticking points (narcissism) of why the church is not changing faster.

How do we share a gospel message with people that is world transforming when they can't even see past the end of their nose? And, of course, you can point that fact out, because then the church would be chastising them yet again.

I do know the argument works the other way too. Older adults in churches are so full of themselves too that they are unwilling to change anything as well.

We are at a turning point in the world and it will be interesting to see where this all goes.
